Some families have darker secrets than others. The open wounds of our family come from my step-cousin Shelly, who, along with her ex-husband, murdered three people including my nephew. I participated in what turned out to be an almost comically lurid Discovery Channel show about her crimes to help provide an accurate portrait of her upbringing.
